The Great Sacandaga Challenge is a USAT (USA Triathlon) sanctioned Sprint distance (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) triathlon, youth triathlon and kids “Splash and Dash” held in Broadalbin, NY on the Great Sacandaga Lake. The goal of the Great Sacandaga Challenge is to introduce new people (young and old) to the sport of triathlon while providing veteran triathletes a great race on and around the scenic Great Sacandaga Lake.
Proceeds from the Great Sacandaga Challenge are used to support local community groups.
Race day will begin with the youth triathlon at 7:30 am. The race will begin with a 100 yd swim, followed by a 3.1 mile bike and finishing with a 1 mile run. The youth triathlon will be split into two divisions, kids that do not feel the need for assistance during the race will start first followed by kids that may need some assistance from family for the bike or run. ADULT (and young adult) SPRINT TRIATHLON
Following the youth event will be the USAT sanctioned adult sprint triathlon for ages 12 and up. The distances are 750m swim, 20k bike and 5k run. The adult race will begin at 9:00 am. The adult triathlon is professionally timed by ARE Event Productions. The race is governed by USAT Competitive Rules.
